My generation has witnessed a phenomenal shift in terms of technological advancements and its implementations alongside the resulting challenges. At the same time, India has undergone huge transformations in terms of its global position and economic stature. I am in a way shaped by these changes, about how I perceive architecture today. But, I consider the major influence directing my perception to be from Architect Kamal Mangaldas, under whom I did my internship in Ahmedabad. During my stay in Ahmedabad, I had the good fortune of meeting Architect B. V. Doshi. These interactions taught me to see the building as a functional program first. My design process continuously strive towards understanding and implementing that intended programming and functioning. I cannot associate myself to any particular architectural style. However, I do try to maintain material purity, and target serenity in my designs, so that a delight can be drawn which remains there in a timeless manner.
